Top 5 Least Played Dota 2 Heroes
Why You No Pick Them?
After covering the most picked heroes for the game in the past, we would now be writing about the least played Dota 2 heroes. Throughout the time frame that Dota 2 has been through, there have been many stages where many heroes were held up on the shoulders along with many that were being neglected for apparently no reason.
Least Played Dota 2 Heroes
Even though that professional players tend to pick up heroes that suit the Meta they are playing and try to adapt to the play style and the mechanics of the hero that would best make them win games. Taking a recent example of Juggernaut, a hero that had been long lost in the pile of 116 playable heroes in competitive Dota 2 and suddenly came to be the most picked carry in competitive matches.
Reason? Jugger has been really powerful in the Meta even after the recent update. Well, it was powerful back in the old days as well but it was still his fate to be neglected in the past. And then, Juggernaut literally became a game-winning hero.
We have a bit of soft corner for some of the heroes that got completely neglected in the current META. The heroes that were once most picked or banned are now just lost in the storm. Five of these are being shown as follows
1. Puck
A hero that helped Na’Vi win the first most prestigious event in Dota 2 history, The International. Where did Puck go now? Puck has been a hero that transitioned and adapted to various patch updates and changing META. Being a versatile hero, able to carry the game along with being able to play either as a support or a nuker, Puck was one of the most picked heroes in the past. However, in the current Meta the hero is somewhat completely forgotten.
Being neglected by neither being picked nor banned, the hero suffered a lot with the new patch. Even though his ultimate ability was enhanced a bit and got spell immunity piercing with AS, Puck still not made it in the headlines of picked heroes.
2. Alchemist
One of the most picked carry heroes in the past and one of the most notable heroes of Na’Vi XBOCT, Alchemist has now faded into darkness being more of a support player as of the current META. With a slight nerf to his ultimate ability Chemical Rage, for many Alchemist lost his spark in competitive Dota 2 just because he is not up to the level as other late game carries in the game.
If properly farmed, Alchemist was a hero that could out farm (Obviously) and outplay almost any hero that can be thought off. Even now his farming capabilities cannot be matched along with a slight boost the hero received on Greevil’s Greed. However, the hero started to become a less picked hero ever since his nerf started from 6.79. Even though the guy got a huge buff in recently, making him a prime choice for players nowadays.
3. Death Prophet
An intelligence hero that was mostly picked as a tank, being able to dominate almost any part of the game is now just a past for competitive Dota 2. Referring to a DK vs EG match in TI4, Mushi’s Death Prophet was just so fed up even then enemy Well could not kill that Witch.
This being said it can be considered true to a larger extinct that even a slight change/nerf can decide the fate of a hero. True for Death Prophet at least who got slight nerfs to her abilities dropping her from one of the most picked mid heroes to almost 5% in total competitive matches played in the past week.
4. Huskar
One of the most overpowered yet the most underrated heroes out there. Huskar at times was one of the most picked heroes in pub games just because you were not allowed to pick that man in Captain’s Mode. Even though that Huskar got away with that and was included in CM last year, he was still not being loved the way he was pampered in pub games.
Mainly the reason why Huskar never topped the charts was the reason he totally fell off in the late game. However, his early game presence and snowballing effect were just too OP to be let go off. Huskar had also received buffs as of 6.82 and 6.83 reducing the cooldown of his ultimate and also the damage taken by Huskar himself.
5. Pudge
The most picked hero in Pub games and a symbol of fear for many just because of the terror Na’Vi Dendi created in competitive Dota 2 hooking enemies all around the map Pudge is just not Pudge anymore. Being less picked by the legend himself, Pudge is a hero that fall off greatly and might have suffered the most in competitive Dota 2.
Being a great nuker, tank also having a disable that goes through BKB, Pudge was one of those heroes that help carry to be fed the most. Well, that’s just because Pudge is wandering around the map making enemies guessing his possible location when the team’s carry is farming the entire map like crazy.
Pudge also got buffed due to the range of his hook being increased even at level 1 making him more deadly from the start of the game. Pudge is one of those heroes who can easily gank the enemy team member contesting the first-minute rune through proper placements. Considering the two times Pudge was picked in the recent TI5 qualifiers, the poor guy was merely picked for a fun game since the outcome of the match was merely negligible.
The End
That’s about it on the list of the least played Dota 2 heroes, we have been missing for quite some time now. We hope Pro teams draft around different heroes that allow a more spicy game with mixed strategies and we also get the chance to see some old time strats once again.
