Should Sven’s Commander Set be Immortal?
This set hasn’t been dropping for a while now, and was recently officially confirmed to NOT DROP in the new item schema drop list that valve just implemented.
(Source: http://www. cyborgmatt. com/2013/09/do. er/#rare-drops )
Since an in-game drop was the only possible way to obtain the set, it is now impossible to obtain new copies of this set, and is therefore, by definition, immortal.
Not only that, but the set has been in need of a fix for quite sometime now, since it doesn’t display properly in Sven’s loadout, showing up as the light blue Non-commander version of the set.

The backpack icons are also identical to the non-commander parts as well. It was not always like this.

This set has been neglected for too long.
Now that the item schema has displayed that it does not drop, the commander set has jumped more than 3X in price already.
Just as the Dragonclaw Hook and Alpine set were made appropriately immortal, the commander set should also be properly defined for what it is.

This is not the appropriate place for your shameless attempts at profiteering.
For starters, I’ve reported two bugs regarding this set, one of which has yet to be fixed for an entire year. (the loadout bug)
If the set is supposed to be in the drop pool, I’m reporting yet another bug, because it isn’t in the drop pool.
If the set isn’t supposed to be in the drop pool, then it should be immortal quality, since there is absolutely no way to obtain new copies currently.
It’s “rare” quality makes no sense if it has the identical characteristic of an immortal item: the inability to create more of them.
Go flame someone else.

You “reported” a known bug and something which may or may not be a bug. The former is padding, and the latter, if done with sincerity need not have been presented in the manner you did. Were someone wishing to draw attention to the possibility of a drop bug, one might say something like, “This set is not dropping and remains ‘rare’, if this is not as intended, perhaps you want to change one or the other.”
Clearly however your intent was not to draw attention to a bug, as your phrasing assumes that it is not in fact a bug, but rather how things are meant to be. You use this reality as the basis for your argument that the Sven set should be immortal. You either believe that it is not a bug, and thus are being disingenuous now, or you do believe it is possibly a bug and you were making a claim based on “evidence” you knew to be dubious.
Furthermore, your claims overlook the fact that there are plenty of items that do not drop, are not purchasable currently, and yet are not marked immortal. These include a variety of items which were only available coupled with physical goods purchases in the Valve store, which are now (and perhaps forever) out of stock.
Go try to manipulate the economy somewhere else.

I was assuming that valve had a semblance of knowledge regarding their in-game drops, so my first thought is that this is to imply that this was intended.
This was the first time Valve has revealed the Dota 2 drop list, so I apologize for thinking that there would be at least a little thought put into it’s release.
If you’re upset about my “poorly phrased” title, I should mention that titles are meant to catch your attention, and I certainly caught yours to say the least.
The content of my OP says much more than pointing out that the Commander set should be immortal given the current circumstances.
As I said, this thread is mostly for giving ALL of the Commander Set issues the light of day in one sorted package.
When they fixed the Dragonclaw hook’s bugs, they made it immortal because it was completely limited, much like the Commander Set has been.
You can accuse me of “manipulation,” I honestly do not care what you alone think; I’m just trying to make a neat, sorted report on how the set is broken in various ways, which includes it’s poor rarity labeling.
Also, the only other items that have a similar affliction are Axe’s “Genuine Witchslayer,” and DK’s “Dragonblood Ravager,” which should also be changed if they intentionally meet the criteria (having a permanently limited quantity)
Not to mention, to my knowledge, I’m the first to bring up the so called “padding” that the Commander Cape, Shoulder, and Skirt all have an identical inventory icon to their Non-commander counterparts.
I know that these boards have their fair share of flamers, so I’ll politely ask you to stop once again, unless you have anything relevant to post for once.
(To specify, this does not include hate and poor assumptions regarding my intent.)

Dota 2 sven commander set
Sven, the Rogue Knight, is a versatile melee strength hero with superior physical power coupled with powerful utility abilities. He can fulfill various roles, but is often played as a semi-carry due to his high utility even without items. He possesses a versatile arsenal, from Warcry, which hastens allies and shields them from attacks, to the throwable Storm Hammer that stuns enemies around the targeted unit. With enough items, Sven has the potential to be a strong late-game carry due to his ultimate, which increases his damage, making him hit up to three times as hard, which can then be used in conjunction with his Great Cleave to secure multiple kills with just a few swings of his sword. This immense power granted to him solely by his ultimate makes him one of strongest late-game carries in the game, and arguably the strongest semi-carry of all, as his killing presence remains even if he decides to build more supportive and tanky utility items. A truly frightening enemy to go up against if farmed, strong and versatile, Sven is a solid addition to almost every team composition.
