So here’s the deal, a friend and I decided that we want to get back into competitive DOTA so we’re putting a team together! Lucky for you guys . As such I am looking for three players to complete our roster. We might look at having 1-2 substitute players, but the main idea here is team chemistry and being as tight-knit as we can. Chemistry produces results more so than any other attribute, and we are going to build our team around the philosophy that we can train skill, but the chemistry has to be innate.

First of all being the best DOTA player ever born is not a requirement. I do ask that interested persons be at least decent at the game, with a solid understanding of mechanics and most (if not all) heroes. If you would classify yourself as “mid-skill” but growing, then I want to hear from you. So if you don’t have to be amazingly skilled, then what do I need to fit in you must be asking yourself. Good question.

Dedication You must have the time, and more importantly the drive to compete. This means attending practices, watching replays/VoDs, and of course working on individual improvement on your own time. It’s not expected that you pound out eight hours of DoTA per day, we all have lives, but do expect to put effort into the team.

Personality This is the big one. You need to fit in, and be somebody that we actually like (and you have to like us as well). We are easy going with a sense of humor, and are generally very easy to get along with. We love to joke around, but we know when to be serious. As long as you are someone who can take a joke and send it right back, can get down to business when we are playing seriously, can shake off a dirty loss (frustration is expected, but excessive raging won’t be tolerated), and actually be enthusiastic about the betterment of him/herself and the team you will fit in perfectly.

Ability Like I said above, you don’t need to be Dendi. You do need to be at least decent. I know that is very subjective, so as long as you are confident in your game then we’ll be willing to try some games with you. Honestly, it’s unlikely I will cut people for a little bit of sloppy play, that will come with practice. A big part of ability is experience. We would prefer players with a healthy competitive gaming background, as that breeds a strong competitive mindset. If you can think and act quickly and competitively, then you will be able to develop as a player in virtually any game or situation. As a rough outline I guess if you have 150+ games played with a close to 50% win rate, then we’ll be willing to look at you.

As far as specific roles go, we aren’t ready to try to recruit any one role. I tend to play the 2/3 spot more often than not, and my friend is gravitating towards 3/4/5, but once we have some people we like, we can divide roles based on who can play what best. So your role doesn’t really matter at the moment.

Playtimes We are North American. It would be preferable for prospective team members to be North American as well. We play on both US West and US East. When we get a rough roster set up I believe our main team play time is going to be between 7:30PM – 11:30PM Pacific, 10:30PM – 2:30AM Eastern on some weeknights, and we will try to get something going during the day on weekends if the majority of people want their weekend evenings to themselves, play time will be a bit of a collaboration. It’s possible that it will be a little earlier, but no more than an hour.
