Exploit that currently allows to zoom out the camera view

This shows how to basically force the game to zoom out the camera which I believe gives an unfair advantage to the person that’s doing it.

This is done through the console, the command is “dota_camera_smooth_time 9999”. The video shows how to get it to work (scroll the view to the top of the minimap).

yet another reason they need to disable the console commands in game

But I enjoy being able to set the hero icons to be 3 times larger than they normally are through the console. really helps imho.

it’s still beta, there is more pressing matters like tha broken up mute system they came up with, where ppl just ban the chat of whoever they don’t like.

zoomout : good at long range spells/items, knowing better in how things going in team fight,
zoomin : good at creep control, last hit/deny, counter reacting to enemy heros attack/casting motion, good for microing

1100 camera distance is too close

let players choose how they see from 900 to 1800 range

if a handful of ppl exclusively use some tricks, its an unfair exploit, however, if everyone including who just started dota a minute ago could also do, its a one option bettering the game

Console commands they think are too powerful are marked as cheats.

The game is designed around fundamentally knowing that your opponent only sees roughly the same amount of the map as you do, so it’s not possible to have some players using some extremely zoomed out viewpoint to avoid hooks/arrows/ganks/anything their opponent is planning outside their field of view. Camera height was marked as a cheat for a reason – exploits will get fixed.

one band-aid solution to fukin frustrating HUD and zoomed in camera

this issue has been more than 2 years

This thread is yet again proof of the recent trend of top-tier developers not communicating with their fans and customers.

Seriously, give us answers now.

1: Will you fix the HUD? Please say yes, or I’ll have to just uninstall and never play again (it’s seriously so bad that it’s making my game time miserable).
2: Will we be allowed to customize the HUD’s in any way?
3: Why can’t we zoom out more? There is fog of war after all. There is also no legitimate complaints against it as it would not affect the balance, seeing as everyone would have access to the same ability to zoom.

Just explained one aspect of why we can’t zoom out. It’s not an ‘issue’, or something that needs fixing.

If you allow players to do it – to make it a needed part of playing the game – it makes the experience of playing the game pretty shitty. I don’t want to have to repeatedly zoom in out in out in out throughout the entire game. That’s what you would have to be doing if you enable zoom out.

Basically it’s a game design choice routed in playability and user experience and it’s a good one. Yeah, you see less of the map, everyone sees less of the map. That’s a thing you get used to in the first few weeks of playing Dota, or you end up playing another game.

morons and low-level players never know what the problem is

even Navi squad long used console zooming out, seen that behind their monitor God..

either way having nothing to do with balance between heroes, having a bit with between heroes with difference range of spells

better all live poor than try to do something that benefit all
This camera is just like a bad regulation that needlessly limits a nation’s industry by inexperienced

Unfortunately we just have to accept that this is never going to happen. The threads asking for a UI scale/zoom out are miles long and years old and yet nothing has been done. Its clear the developers give no fucks about these complaints.
