Dota 2 Rules

Welcome to the CoDL(Colorado Dota League)
Certain rules are subject to change for the purpose of improving the league**

Eligibility
– For the first season we will limit it to instate Dota players, additions of other states will be discussed in the future.
– Any age, any mmr
-Teams may consist of 5-7 players, this is to help with substitutions/standins.
-$25 per team max registration

How to register as a team:
Sept 29th we will open team registration via toornament

How to register as a free agent:

1.We will post a public google sheet showing a list of free agents
2.It will be up to the free agents to contact each other and create a team
3.Once your team is ready. register it through the team registration on toornament in the section above.
4.Once your team is registered we will remove those certain players from the free agent list.

Schedule:

Games will be played on:
Wednesdays, 7pm mtn as a default time

Oct 14th – Week 1
Oct 21st – Week 2
Oct 28th – Week 3
Nov 4th – Week 4
Nov 11th – Week 5
Nov 18th – Week 6
Nov 25th – Thanksgiving break
Dec 2nd – Week 7
Dec 9th – Ro4
Dec 12th – Live Finals(Top2)
Teams will have an opportunity to reschedule their match up to a 6 days past their original match date.
ex Week 1 – Oct 14th, you can reschedule up to Oct 20th

Finals will hopefully be at Clutch Gaming Arena(Still Pending)

Format:
Bo3 – Group stages
Bo5 – Ro4
Bo5 – Finals

Group Stage:
Single 7 team round robin group.

Playoffs:
Ro4 – Best of 5. Winners go to the offline finals.

If there is a tiebreaker situation, those teams involved in the tiebreak will play an additional bo3 series/’s depending on the amount of teams involved.

Gameplay:

In each match, a coin toss decides which team has Selection Priority(Choose either starting side or starting team in the draft, Alternates for game two.
/flip command in Dota 2 channels, will flip a coin.

Profiles:
Profiles may not be set to private during match play
If you have an admin for your match, they will check the legitimacy of the players playing.
If there is no admin for your match, it will be up to the players to check the legitimacy of their opponents. We will send teams a list of their opponents steamIDs.

Match Setup:
Game Mode – Captains Mode, unless otherwise needed(remakes)
Lobby PW – Either team can host if no admin is hosting for them, make a non complicated pw that both teams can use to access the game lobby
Server Location – US West
Dota TV Delay – 2 minutes
Spectators: Only admins, casters, and official CoDL staff can spectate
Starting team: Related to coin toss
Penalties: Depends on if a team has made an infraction.

Pauses:
Each team will have the right to pause the game for an acceptable reason and duration, as long as it is announced at least 3 seconds prior to the actual pause. The game is to not be unpaused until both teams agree and are ready. Any abusive pauses should be reported and will be under and admins review.

Disconnects and Reconnects:
A game is to be paused instantly if a player disconnects. Each team has up to 15 total minutes across their series of pause time. Once this time is used up the game is to be unpaused and the match continue.

Penalties:
Team is 10 min late – Level 1 Draft penalty(-30 sec ban phase)
Team is 15 min late – Level 2 Draft penalty(-70 sec ban phase)
Team is 20 min late – Level 3 Draft penalty(-110 sec ban phase)
Team is 25 min late – Forfeit that game(Not the whole match)
Team is 50 min late – Forfeit the series

No colluding, No cheating, No hacking, No racism, No maliciously insults, No griefing, and anything considered inappropriate or detrimental to the players, teams, staff or league.

Not following any of the rules listed on this page could potentially earn you/your team punishment via:
Loss of one game
Loss of a series
Time Penalty
Temporary or Permanent ban of competitor or team
Ban from future competitions

Any issues should be reported to an admin immediately, so the issues can be reviewed.

Broadcasting:

Players are allowed to broadcast their matches as long as they have a running 2 minute delay for their match play.
Authorized casters will also be allowed into matches provided they run a 2 minute delay as well.
Teams cannot reject an approved caster from their match, reports of teams not following this rule will earn them a penalty/deduction.
Reports of not following these rules could earn you a penalty from above or potentially stripping of approved caster status.

If you’re a free agent, you will have to find your own team. We will post a list of free agents that you can contact to begin the team creation process. Once you have 5 players you can go through team registration. Once registered as a team, we will remove you from the free agent list.

Teams can add to their team all the way up until playoffs
Any additions to a team have to be reported to an admin
Teams can’t surpass 7 players on a roster

Teams can remove a player as long as the team has a minimum of 5 players left.
Any removals will from a team have to be reported to an admin.

Since we’re allowing up to 7 players to be registered per team, we will not be allowing stand ins to play in the league, you will have to use your roster depth.

Communication:
We will have a skype group with casters/admins/a representative from each team. This is to help communication and quicker response times to issues.
Teams expect to name a representative for your team to be in this group(HINT: pick the responsible one)
